KM's for a Cure

First and foremost we would like to thank our Presenting Sponsor, Mr. James Bennett of Oxford Dodge as well as our friends at REV3K Fitness and SPIN for opening their doors and providing their expertise to make “KM’s for a Cure 2.0” a huge success !! We could not have organized this Event without a fantastic Team of Volunteers as well as the generosity and kindness of the folks at RaceRoster …. and of course our great community partners at lululemon!! Thank-you as well to all the other London fitness centres and our incredible corporate donors for their compassion and generosity. Thanks to all their generous support, our virtual Race across Canada was a tremendous success!!

KM's for a Cure
What an amazing day for Research!! Teams were greeted by our awesome Volunteers before dawn to register and prepare for their 4 hours of Challenges. Teams were given a “Passport” to guide them on their Journey ….to collect as many Kilometers (KM’s) as possible at each of the 4 Challenges. Teams strategized, cheered each other on, had snacks and danced to the music provided by DJ Maya! While resting in between their “turn” in the Challenge they had the opportunity to receive a relaxing massage from Richmond Massage Therapy and consult with Dr. Jessica Pileggi from Your Medical Health & Rehab London. They also had a chance to visit the Doterra booth or refuel with HERC and enjoy the awesome energy bites created by Emily Cuddy, owner of The Green Window in the decked out lululemon Lounge!

These awesome Teams collected from +60km to almost 95kms on the virtual run across Canada for MLD Research! After the Challenge was completed they gathered near the lululemon refuel lounge to capture a quick photo book picture and grab their swag bag packed full of goodies including a souvenir Challenger Tee, Hope Water Bottle and a special purple-iced BXCR donut, generously provided by our friends at Commonwealth Coffee!! The day was not finished…. later in the evening the Teams / Challengers were welcomed back for the “Oxford Dodge After Party”. Guests enjoyed sandwiches from The Tipsey Pig and amazing salads provided by The Green Window, brews from Herald Haus Brewing and wines from our friends at Open! We all enjoyed excellent entertainers from The WaterStreet Blues as well as Mr. Julien Gignac! Thank-you to the Director of Sales, Mr. Jeff McHardy of Oxford Dodge for transforming their beautiful new dealership into a giant Party Room!!

A great big thank-you to all the Challengers for creating fundraising pages and reaching out to friends and family to raise an additional $10,000 for Research!! Funds raised from this amazing Project will help establish a future Clinical Trial right here in London, conducted through “Bethanys Hope Leukodystrophy Research Laboratory” under the direction of Dr. Tony Rupar of Western University.
