On October 12th and 13th our amazing, energetic Volunteers welcomed over 210 Runners / Walkers & Spinners from all over southwestern Ontario to the MVMT Strength Studio in downtown London for the 1st Annual “KM’s for a Cure” – 24 Hour Treadmill Challenge!! They were greeted by one of our 40 high energy – yellow shirted Volunteers and were instantly able to cheer on the Runners & Walkers already in full flight on the amazing “brand new – state of the art” Treadmills, very generously supplied and installed by the Team at Flaman Fitness (London)!! They were quickly registered, given a special souvenir “Be on the Team” water bottle that was stuffed with awesome products from Nuun Hydration, our generous electrolyte Sponsor! All the Participants were escorted to the Margo & Tuffy – Runners Lounge that was filled with balloons generously donated by Party Girls & Co., a FishBowl Raffle full of donated prizes, as well as hair braiding hair for donations by Robyn and her Team of girls. The awesome… energy driven music was provided by DJ Sonia Somer!

After their Run or Walk there were lots of opportunities to fuel up with delicious food very generously donated by our friends at Margo and Tuffy, Dominos and McDonalds. Plus we had amazing … on tap cold coffee from Workshop Cold Brew and cold drinks supplied by PepsiCo!!

Along with the Runners & Walkers there were over 80 Guests who participated in one of our additional classes spread out over the 24 hours. These classes were hosted by Volunteers/Coaches from “24 hours of Heroes”, “Moksha Yoga”, “Rev3kSpin” and of course our amazing partners at “MVMT Strength”. Certainly a highlight were the two “Sold Out” – incredible Spin Classes led by Tanya Izawa of Rev3K Spin on Friday at Midnight and 6am on Saturday!

The energy was incredibly high all the entire 24 hours !! We welcomed so many Teams of 6 or more including our signature Sponsors at RaceRoster and MVMT Strength as well as all our new friends at CrossFit TPI, REVKOR, WRKHUB, Cane and Co., Joe Kools. We are so grateful to a very, very special Team of 63 Runners from REV3k who were present every hour of the “24 Hour Challenge” ….. keeping us all motivated and moving to the Cure!!!

Our very generous Registered Participants of our “KM’s for a Cure” were challenged to raise $500.00 to be entered in to win a 50 inch Samsung TV. We were delighted to have 10 people meet that challenge — some even raising over $1,000.00 for Research!! Collectively this group raised over $10,000.00 with pledges and sponsorships. We thank the entire list of generous folks that Registered in support of our Challenge as well as their very, very generous Canadian Sponsor/Donors from all over this country!! Bravo Canada!!

Each Participant left with a sweet “Team 2018” – SWAG bag filled with Sponsor information and gifts! Thanks to our generous friends at lululemon and Rocking Vibe we were able to present either a Limited Edition lululemon shirt or a very special sparkle bracelet to over eighty “Early Bird – Registered Participants”

At the core of our Foundation is our incredible Team of Volunteers that have supported us since 1996! We were blessed to once again have over 40 very special Volunteers who brought the energy and party to the Studio for the entire 24 ++ hours! We thank them for their incredible talent and generosity of time!!

Events like our “KM’s for a Cure” would not be possible without the very generous support of the local business community….!! We are deeply grateful and honoured to have partnered with over thirty-one genuinely compassionate companies here in London and surrounding communities as well as the Member Associations from the London and St. Thomas Police! A very, very special thank-you to our Signature Sponsors from MVMTS Studio, RaceRoster, Flaman’s Fitness, Margo & Tuffy, Rev3K and Oxford Dodge Chrysler Jeep. We urge you to support all of our awesome Sponsors as you make your business decisions each day!! Please take a moment and look at all the amazing corporate friends who stepped forward to make a difference in the future for the children & families of Leukodystrophy …… as we move closer & closer to a Clinical Trial right here in London by our very own Research Team led by Dr. Tony Rupar of Western University.

Special thank-you to our very generous “Official Photographer”, Sioana of Hutchings & Co. for the high energy images she captured during the Challenge!

We hope to see you all and your friends next year!!
