Welcome to Team 2018 to all the folks at the Scotiabank – Cannington Branch. They have been very busy over the last few months raising awareness and much needed MLD Research funding in honour of a one of their community members…. Ella Andrews and family.

On Friday, September 30th we were honoured to accept a cheque in the amount of $4,169.20 from Branch Manager John D’Altoe, Customer Service Manager Monica Benalcazar-Schuenemann, Customer Service Representative Kristyna Rae and the Branch Team. The presentation was very special as we were able to meet young Ella with her Mom and Dad, Melissa and Wes Andrews. Ella was born on May 31, 2012, the second daughter for the Andrews. On May 27, 2015 the Andrews family received the devastating news that their beautiful Ella was diagnosed with Metachromatic Leukodystrophy (MLD).

We thank Scotiabank for matching all the funds raised in the community thru various events at the Branch. We would also like to thank their very generous Corporate partners in the Cannington area that donated to their campaign:

Farmland Milk Transport – Cannington Commons Inc. – Cannington Veterinary Services
Rock Contracting (Northern) – Arksey Lumber Limited – Ron Hall Meats and
Brelmar Vet Clinic Pro Group

It is the continued support from other affected families, Corporate sponsorship and folks like our friends at Scotiabank that is responsible for the dedication and ongoing operation of “Bethanys Hope Leukodystrophy Research Laboratory” There generous donations will go directly to support the children and families who participate in our future Metachromatic Leukodystrophy (MLD) – Clinical Trial under the direction of Dr. Tony Rupar of Western University.

Their kindness and compassion allows our Foundation to continue to give hope to the children and families who struggle each day with the tragedy of MLD.
